Brian Baldinger breaks down film of Broncos stopping Chiefs on 3rd down

The Denver Broncos shocked the NFL world this past Sunday, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 24-9. It was a masterclass in defense: although the Broncos only mustered 240 yards of offense total, the Broncos defense held the Chiefs to 275 yards of offense, a decline from their 396.7 yards per game entering the contest.

As he did last week, Brian Baldinger of NFL Network has a new breakdown: this time, highlighting the Broncos’ defense. The Denver defense forced five turnovers on the Chiefs and held their usually high-powered offense to zero touchdowns.

Baldinger’s point of emphasis this week? The Broncos defense on third down. Baldinger highlights that on the play below, the Broncos shut down tight end Travis Kelce, put a defender to spy on star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and executed a deep zone coverage. The play resulted in Mahomes trying to escape pressure but to no avail, throwing the ball away as the Broncos forced a fourth down.

And more from Baldinger:

The Broncos will enter a bye week and then attempt to build off their momentum when they face the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football in Week 10.
