Brexiteer moans about airport immigration queue 'not being the Brexit he voted for'

A Brexiteer who claimed he waited in an airport immigration queue for nearly an hour has been widely mocked after complaining "this isn't the Brexit I voted for".

Colin Browning, from Leicestershire, said he was disgusted after being confronted by a lengthy queue at Amsterdam's Schipol Airport upon landing yesterday.

He wrote on Twitter: "Absolutely disgusting service at Schipol airport. 55 minutes we have been stood in the immigration queue. This isn’t the Brexit I voted for."

An accompanying picture shows him waiting in line behind dozens of fellow passengers  - but the image does not specify which immigration queue he had chosen to stand in.

When challenged, he wrote in follow-up post: “I didn’t vote to stand in a queue for over an hour why [sic] some jobsworth checks our passports.

“I spent more time at immigration than I did in the air getting to my destination.”

Some have speculated that Mr Browning's irony-free tweet was satirical, but his Twitter account reveals hundreds of comments in support of Brexit, as well as a long-standing grievance against vegans and cyclists.

Whether an elaborate hoax or not, Colin's comments have been widely mocked on social media - with some people branding him a 'hypocrite' for his stance.

One user wrote: "The painful thud of reality. This absolutely IS what you voted for - the restoration of strict border controls, right?"

"Did you think they’d just wave you and your blue passport through", asked another.

Another simply added: "Maybe you should just believe in Brexit more."

Britain officially left the EU last month but the current transition period means UK travellers are still technically allowed to use lanes for EU passport holders until December 2020.

Pointing this out, one user wrote: "Just wait 'til end of the year. You ain't seen nothin' yet!"

Robert Usher said: "Anyone wanna tell him about the transition period - that he currently have the rights as other EU citizens - and is in the wrong queue? Or, shall we let him carry on with his wait to think things over?"

The Mirror has contacted Mr Browning over his comment.
