Theresa May has travelled to Brussels in an attempt to break the deadlock preventing Britain from opening Brexit trade talks with the EU.
She is expected to make a formal offer during a dinner with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker today on the UK’s divorce bill.
The Prime Minister must also convince the EU she has resolved the thorny problem of the border with Ireland.
Last week Donald Tusk, the European Council president, said that Ireland effectively had a veto over the future functioning of the border.
Also today, Brexit Secretary David Davis leads a committee stage debate on the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill, also known as the Great Repeal Bill – which would transfer EU law onto British statute books.
