Talks between the UK and EU are reaching their ultimate climax as leaders attempt to salvage hopes of a post-Brexit trade deal.
Britain’s chief negotiator, Lord David Frost, will continue talks with his EU counterpart, Michel Barnier this morning, after negotiations were said to be on a “knife edge”.
The pair will meet following a weekend of tense discussions, as issues remain over fishing rights and the so-called “level playing field” rules on fair competition.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen will speak this evening – their second call in a little over 48 hours – in a bid to pave the final steps towards an agreement.
