John Bercow has pledged to use "creativity" in Parliament if Boris Johnson disobeys the law designed to stop a no-deal Brexit.
The outgoing Commons Speaker warned the Prime Minister against any attempts to try to force through a no-deal, saying the only acceptable form of EU departure possible is one backed by MPs.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) has quashed rumours it was relaxing its stance on Irish sea checks and opening the door to a new Brexit deal.
Anonymous sources told The Times that the party would be willing to see Northern Ireland abide by some EU rules after Brexit in a deal to replace the Irish backstop, but DUP leader Arlene Foster has since dismissed the claims as "nonsense".
