Former foreign secretary Boris Johnson has said he still believes there is time to resolve the border issue between the Republic and Northern Ireland ahead of the Brexit deadline.
Speaking to business leaders in Dublin, he said that “no matter what nonsense the prophets of doom may talk about” on the border issue “we have time to do it, we have time to get this right”.
His comments came as Mrs May met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who said his country was in “total support” of the Withdrawal Agreement ahead of next week’s crunch vote in the Commons.
The UK’s Prime Minister faced a blow earlier today when ex-MI6 Sir Richard Dearlove urged Tories not to back Mrs May’s Brexit deal over fears it threatens national security.
