Brexit news LIVE: Boris Johnson meets European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen after she warned of 'tough talks' ahead

Boris Johnson has welcomed the new European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to Downing Street for talks.

It is the first time the two have met since she replaced Jean-Claude Juncker.

The pair posed for photographs on the doorstep of Number 10 ahead of what Ms von der Leyen warned would be "tough talks".

Ms von der Leyen gave a speech at a university in London earlier today in which she said there would be "consequences" as a result of the UK leaving the European Union.
