Brexit march 2019: When is the Put It To The People march and what is the People's Vote campaign calling for?

Thousands of protesters are expected to descend on central London next week calling for a say on the UK's future in Europe.

The "Put It To The People March" on March 23 will demand the public is given a final say on Brexit and is set to be similar to October's huge demo.

Organised by the People's Vote campaign, the rally will take place the weekend before the UK is due to leave the EU, with Brexit set to go down to the wire.

Here's everything you need to know about the march.

Where will the march take place?

The march will take place on Saturday, March 23 - just six days before the UK is due to leave the bloc.

Campaigners will meet at Park Lane, north of the Hilton Hotel, at midday, before marching to Parliament Square where speeches will take place outside the Palace of Westminster.

Organisers are hoping for a similar turnout to the march in October which attracted 700,000 people.

Why that date?

Under the current timetable, next Saturday could be the last chance for demonstrations to take place before the UK leaves on March 29.

However the schedule could change depending on the outcome of the votes taking place this week.

On Wednesday evening, MPs will vote on whether they are willing for the UK to leave the EU without a deal at the end of the month.

If MPs reject no-deal a third vote will follow on Thursday, on whether to authorise Mrs May to request an extension of the two-year Article 50 negotiation process.

March 23 is also the day after the European Council meetings on March 21 and 22 at which the EU27 leaders will discuss the latest Brexit developments.

What are they campaigning for?

People's Vote march announced for weekend before Brexit day in London

Official campaign literature states: "Hundreds of thousands of people will march on Parliament offering a solution to a crisis that threatens their living standards, businesses and jobs.

"We demand a People’s Vote, and come 23 March, it could be a case of now or never."

It adds: "Our demand is a simple one: that any Brexit is put the people so that we can have the final say."

The People's Vote is a campaign calling for a final vote on any proposed Brexit deal, which would likely take the form of another referendum.

The campaign wants the people to be able to vote on the Government's final Brexit deal before it is set in stone.

However, a referendum would take months to organise and would probably need Article 50 to be extended.

But again, this all depends on the results of the votes this week.

Who has said they will be going to the march?

The march has support from pro-Remain MPs across the political spectrum.

Tory former minister Anna Soubry and Green Party leader Caroline Lucas are co-founders of the People's Vote campaign, while Liberal Democrat leader Sir Vince Cable has also backed it.

Labour's David Lammy and the leaders of the SNP and Plaid Cymru in Westminster, Ian Blackford and Liz Saville Roberts, have also thrown their weight behind the rally next week.
