Brexit bill - live updates: EU says final Brexit deal will be similar to agreement with Japan - and sets transition deadline

Welcome to The Independent's politics liveblog, where we will be bringing you all of the latest updates from Westminster throughout the day.

Theresa May is set to face Jeremy Corbyn for the last Prime Minister's Questions clash of the year, before enduring a grilling by senior MPs. Brexit is likely to figure heavily during her appearance at the Liaison Committee, which is the only Commons committee able to compel the Prime Minister to attend.

Cabinet ministers Michael Gove and Damian Green will also make high-profile appearances before committees today, as Mr Green, the de-facto deputy Prime Minister, is still awaiting the outcome of a Cabinet Office probe into his personal conduct.

Rounding off the day, MPs will debate the eighth - and final - day of the EU (Withdrawal) Bill's committee stage, where efforts to amend the bill by Tory rebels appear to have been thwarted by the Government.
