Theresa May faces pressure from all sides as Tory disillusionment threatened to bubble over amid deepening divisions over Brexit.
The Prime Minister will chair a meeting of her Brexit "war cabinet" of senior ministers after a weekend of savage infighting following Philip Hammond's claims that any changes after Brexit would be "very modest". His comments enraged Brexiteers who are afraid Ms May is preparing to deliver a Brexit "in name only".
She is also facing anger from backbench MPs irritated by her "timid" leadership and resentment from those passed over for promotion during her recent botched reshuffle.
It comes as EU leaders were set to approve negotiating guidelines for talks on the post-Brexit transition period - an issue that has proved controversial among Brexiteers, who are reluctant to continue to follow rules and regulations from Brussels after Britain leaves the bloc.
Brexit Secretary David Davis will also face a grilling by peers, who are gearing up to challenge the Government's flagship Brexit legislation when it moves to the Lords on Tuesday.
