Boris Johnson said he does not want a general election as he urged MPs not to delay Brexit.
It came after an emergency Cabinet meeting which sparked rumours an election could be called.
However, the PM has said he does not want such a vote, but wants to "get Brexit done" and then focus on his legislative agenda.
It comes as a cross party alliance, which includes rebel Tories, looks to block the prospect of a no-deal Brexit on October 31.
