The SNP suffered a defeat today as MPs voted against an amendment to stop Theresa May from triggering formal Brexit talks.
The amendment was defeated by 336 votes to 100, a majority of 236.
It called for MPs to refuse to endorse the proposed European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill at its second reading.
The SNP argued the Government had failed to offer "effective consultation" with the devolved administrations of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
It also said Article 50 should not be backed because the Government had not offered guarantees for the rights of EU nationals or published a White Paper on its Brexit plans.
Following the amendment's defeat, MPs went on to vote for legislation to allow Ms May to start formal Brexit talks.
MPs gave the bill a second reading by 498 votes to 114, a majority of 384.
