Brewhemia Edinburgh announces temporary closure after staff member tests positive for Covid

Brewhemia in Edinburgh has been forced to temporarily close its doors after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.

The Market Street venue has confirmed that all bookings are being cancelled, and the bar will close until Monday, June 7. This is to allow for a deep clean to take place, and also to give other staff members time to get tested should they develop symptoms.

They say customers who have visited in recent days won't be contacted at present as track and trace data has not been asked for, however details will be provided to Test and Protect should it be required.

In a social media post, bosses at the venue said: "We have been informed today that a staff member has tested positive for Covid-19, as we are sure you will all appreciate this is a shock to the team who are concerned for their colleague.

"We have taken the decision to close Brewhemia until Monday 7th of June to allow for deep cleaning and also to give time to the other staff should they develop symptoms and need to be tested or isolate.

"All affected bookings will be cancelled and contacted within the next 24 hours and we sincerely apologise for the disruption but the welfare of the staff and our customers takes priority at this point.

"For any customer who has visited over the last couple of days please rest assured that at this stage we have not been asked for Track and Trace data but should it be necessary for you to be contacted then Test And Protect will be provided with full details and make that decision if it is required.
