Brewery reveals when pubs including Cottage Inn will reopen

A harbourside pub with one of the best views in Bristol will reopen at the end of the month.

Butcombe brewery has confirmed reopening dates for five of its pubs in and around Bristol, including The Cottage Inn at Baltic Wharf.

It will welcome customers back on Wednesday, July 29, and advised in a Facebook post "important changes" will be in place to protect against coronavirus.

Butcombe Brewing Co also announced the following reopening dates:

  • The Lime Kiln, Langport: July 27
  • The Bowl, Almondsbury: July 27
  • The Lamb, Axbridge: August 3
  • The Pelican, Chew Magna: August 3

All of the brewery's sites have signed up to the government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme, which will mean anyone eating there in August will get 50 per cent off their food bill.

The scheme only runs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and the discount is capped at £10 per person.

Butcombe was founded in Bristol 42 years ago and has dozens of pubs across the South West, which it describes as an "eclectic bunch with a focus on award-winning food and drink".

It also runs brewery tours at its base in Wrington, North Somerset, but these have been suspended until February 2021.

Pubs were ordered to shut on March 23 when lockdown commenced, and were allowed to reopen again months later on July 4.

However, many have not yet reopened as they are making preparations to ensure staff and customers' safety.

The Cottage Inn shared news of its reopening on its Facebook page last night (July 14).

The post read: "The health and safety of our customers and team is our top priority, so we've made some important changes to create a safe, secure and comfortable environment when you visit.

"This includes new ways of working and social distancing measures, which we will be announcing on our social channels this week.

"A massive thanks for your support and patients during a very tricky time - we can't wait to welcome you back!"
