Brewery offers free beer for TV viewers to celebrate lockdown easing - here's how to get some

Beer fans across the UK are being offered the chance to have a free drink to celebrate as the country inches out of lockdown.

Camden Town Brewery is set to give away thousands of free beers to the nation after it found out one-in-three Brits missed having a pint with mates more than anything else before restrictions were relaxed.

All drinkers have to do to enjoy cans of award-winning Camden Hells Lager is to tune into the world’s first ‘drinkable’ telly ad and scan the QR codes on screen with their phone camera.

The London-based brewery will deliver either a 6, 12 or 24 pack of Hells directly to those who are chosen to enjoy a beer with friends once again.

More than 20,000 people took part in the interactive TV campaign on the first night alone, but there are a further 90,000 free cans and bottles to be distributed.

Catch the TV ad on BT Sport during the Champions League Final on August 23 and on Channel 4 this weekend and from August 28-30.

Jasper Cuppaidge, founder of Camden Town Brewery said: “It has been a tough year for everyone, and we’ve tried to help wherever we can with our lockdown initiatives in aid of the hospitality industry and NHS charities and staff across the UK.

"But now, we wanted to give back to the great British public by offering them the chance to share a free, fresh and socially distanced beer with friends.

"We know it’s a small gesture, but we hope to bring some much needed cheers in the very best way we know how – with fresh beer."
