Brewery launches Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer-inspired stout

Last week we reported how Glasgow brewery Drygate brewed up their own special tribute to Billy Connolly in the form of a limited edition banana milkshake IPA called 'Big Banana Feet'.

And now a beer company has decided to pay homage to another Scottish institution that you'll often find people munching alongside their cups of tea - the Tunnock's Caramel Wafer.

English brewer Glen Affric Brewery, based in Birkenhead near Liverpool, has launched a new Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer-inspired stout called Metric Tunnox.

It seems it has already proved to be quite popular among stout - or perhaps Tunnocks - aficionados, with Pollokshields craft beer specialists The Wee Beer Shop calling it "one of the fastest selling beers we’ve ever had".

The 9.5% biscuit-inspired beverage has been created in collaboration with the Craft Beer Channel, and has been made using only traditional ingredients - including eight speciality malts.
