CHICAGO_Ryan Braun's 300th career home run, a two-run shot to left-center field in the first inning off John Lackey, helped the Brewers top the Cubs 2-0 on Friday night at Wrigley Field.
Two of the four hits Lackey allowed in seven innings came during the first. The right-hander didn't allow another run, walked two and struck out nine before departing for a pinch-hitter in the seventh.
The first regular-season Friday night game in the history of Wrigley Field saw little offense from either side in the first of a nine-game, 10-day homestand for the Cubs.
The Brewers managed just four hits to the Cubs. five. Three times the Cubs had runners on first and third but failed to score.
