BrewDog teams up with hit band The Libertines to create new beer - here's where Scots can try it

Hit band The Libertines have teamed up with Scottish brewers BrewDog to create a new beer.

The band and brewer have collaborated to create The Waste Land IPA.

Launching on Friday 25th September, the draft will be available at The Waste Land Bar in London, as well as BrewDog bars across the UK, meaning Scots fans will get to try it at their Edinburgh and Glasgow bars.

The will be the house beer at the bar, which is part of the Libertine's new hotel and recording studio  The Albion Rooms  in Margate.

Kegs of the beer are heading to 18 Brewdog bars across the UK, including the Edinburgh bar at Lothian Road and the Merchant City venue in Glasgow.

Inspired by the Libertine Gunga Gin, the dedicated IPA clocks in at 5.7% abv and was created by adding bright lemon and lime peel mid-brew, which according to the brew team, complements the addition of coriander seeds, a botanical that riffs with citrus and orange notes.

They added that this combines with a west-coast IPA style bitterness "harmonised by City and Columbus hops".

Speaking about the brew, singer Carl Barât said: “The Libertines have consumed a great deal of Brewdog in recent years, and so the opportunity to collaborate on a beer of our own was a no brainer.

"We’ve managed to come up with a gin infused IPA which suits the band splendidly, and we’re very excited for everyone to try it.  We’ve got it on tap at our own bar, and it’s available at Brewdog venues too. Lovely.”

The Libertines venue, The Albion Rooms hotel in Margate will officially open its doors on Friday, September 25th.

The opening sees the completion of a three-year transformation of a five storey Victorian building overlooking the sea on the Eastern Esplanade in Margate.

The one-of-a-kind residence features seven individually decorated rooms, which are available to book here, as well as a fine dining restaurant overseen by renowned chef Joe Hill. It also houses two bars and state of the art recording studio.
