BrewDog selling bottling line for £2 million arguing 'cans are better for the planet'

BrewDog is selling its glass bottling line as part of plans to reduce its carbon footprint and reach net-zero.

The company has listed its Krones 46,000 BPH Glass Bottling Line on Ebay for £2m.

It was built in 2017 and the new owner will have to pay the fees for removing and collecting the item.

So far it has been obtaining 24 views per hour, following BrewDog co-founder James Watt's Twitter announcement.

He wrote: “Cans are significantly better for the planet than one way bottles - the carbon footprint of a canned beer is approximately 35% lower than a bottled beer - so, as part of our commitment to sustainability we decided to put our big bottling line on eBay.”

The announcement follows the Scottish brewery's plans to turn Kinrara Estate, in Aviemore, into the UK’s largest woodland in a bid to cut down its carbon emissions.

The project is aiming to 'turbo charge' the company's sustainability plans, cutting its carbon footprint per pint by 40% this year.

BrewDog has so far invested more than £50m on reducing its environmental impact.

The carbon footprint of its business worldwide was 74,652 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
