BrewDog online pub is serving up Friday night menu of beer, music and quizzes

Those missing their Friday nights out at the pub can share some boozy fun in the company of popular Newcastle bar BrewDog.

Virtual bar BrewDog Open Arms will be ready for business to usher in the weekend with plenty of drink-related activities.

At 6pm this Friday it is inviting everyone to enjoy a weekend warm-up with a #PunkOClock session featuring BrewDog co-founders James and Marti who will be bringing all the pub news plus live music and a quiz with a special guest. To join in, connect via Zoom here.

The pub has been maintaining its close ties with customers during the coronavirus lockdown through the likes of cocktail-making sessions, cidery tours and even a live painting session with resident BrewDog artist Fisher. To register for one of its online events see here.

The BrewDog Open Arms is just one of several new virtual attractions in the city centre which are being promoted by business improvement district company NE1 in a Hack Your Isolation series.

Others aimed at offering some laid-back fun this weekend include a chance to order some hand-made chocolates from Chocolatrice whose new stock will go online at 7pm on Friday.

Then the weekend kicks in and those wanting to fill in two more days of isolation with something more chilled-out can find an idea to suit just about everybody.

Suggestions include starting Saturday with a morning Instagram tutorial from Malmaison hotel on how to make blueberry pancakes here at 9am; then following up with a drop-in meditation session with Newcastle Meditation Centre on Facebook here - where a class will run from 10.30am to 11.30am - and later picking up tips here on how to make a pre-dinner Negroni cocktail from The Botanist at 6pm.

On Sunday, Hack your Isolation ideas include a 10am visit to Newcastle Libraries which is helping readers on its Facebook page to discover the world of e-books and a cookathon at 6pm in a tutorial from My Delhi on how to make a Indian dish chettinad madras.
