BrewDog is opening a Manchester beer hotel - with can fridges in the showers

BrewDog has revealed plans to open a mini hotel in Manchester.

The Scottish brewing giant has just opened the first of its new BrewDog Kennels site above its Aberdeen bar, with a second set to follow in Columbus, USA, next year.

Further launches are also proposed in Manchester, London, Paris and Berlin.

Each will be based above one of the brewery's bars and will have between two and six rooms.

And if the Aberdeen site's facilities are anything to go by, beer-lovers visiting Manchester are in for a treat.

Guests at the Castlegate site will be greeted with half a pint of craft beer when they check in, and will be able to order growlers of draught beer to be delivered to their rooms along with food from the bar's menu.

They'll also be able to drink beer in the showers, which are fitted with fridges stocked with BrewDog cans.

The rooms will also have vinyl players, a selection of records and guitars, board games and a beer book library. Brompton bikes will also be available for guests to rent.

The mini hotels will all be dog friendly, with dog beds and treats available for guests' four-legged friends.

Prices start from £75 a night at the Aberdeen Kennels and the brewery's Equity Punks shareholders can get discounted bookings.

The new venture builds on the success of its larger DogHouse hotel model, the first of which opened at its US brewery in Columbus, Ohio, last year.

It has yet to be confirmed where the Manchester Kennels will be. The brewery has two bars in the city, on Peter Street - which is due to relocate to the former Enzo unit on Fountain Street next year - and its newer Outpost Manchester microbrewery bar, on Oxford Road.

Announcing the plans, the brewery said: "Since our first BrewDog Bar opened in 2010 we have proudly made them beacons in the citadel for amazing beer. But we want to go further still. We are going to change expectations of beer in the heart of great cities - by giving people somewhere to stay they feel truly at home. And nothing fits better than a kennel.

"BrewDog Kennels are our new, city centre mini-hotels with between 2-6 rooms located above our BrewDog Bars.

"Building on the concept of our award-winning DogHouse hotel, they give more people the chance to combine a memorable hotel experience with amazing craft beers on their travels. This is a revolution in accommodation."
