BrewDog founder reveals Dragons' Den snub that would have been worth £360m

A co-founder of Scots craft beer giants BrewDog has revealed they were rejected for Dragons' Den and that their offer would now be worth a massive £360million.

The firm, started in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, 13 years ago, is now an international hit with their drinks sold across the globe.

James Watt started the popular booze brand with Martin Dickie and decided to pitch their company to the hit television show.

But he says they never got past the screen test before being turned down- with a planned offer of £100,000 for 20% to the 'Dragons'.

By his calculations, that sum would now be worth a staggering £360 million - which would be the most profitable investment EVER on the programme.

James posted the story on social media today - adding that he and Martin "got over the rejection eventually".

He said on LinkedIn: "In 2008 we applied to Dragon's Den & got as far as a screen test and we pitched our hearts out before the producers rejected us.

"They deemed Martin & myself not investment worthy. We were crushed.

"We were prepared to offer the Dragons 20% for £100,000.

"Based on our latest BrewDog valuation, that investment would now be worth almost £360m meaning the Dragon's missed out on by far the best deal in Den history.

"We got over the rejection eventually. But it took a while."

James and Martin started BrewDog both aged just 24.

The company has since won several awards in its 13-year history and has breweries across the world.
