Brett Favre golfs with Sean Payton, jokes about another comeback

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton turned heads at the Zurich Classic celebrity shootout, winning a charity round in some very clean Air Jordan sneakers gifted to him by Michael Thomas. But he wasn’t finished: Payton strutted onto the field for the pro-am tournament on the Zurich Classic with teammates Jon Rahm and Brett Favre.

That team, which includes a couple of Super Bowl champions and Rahm, a star on the PGA Tour, drew quite a crowd. So of course they were bogged down by fans seeking autographs. And Favre took the opportunity to stir the pot, joking with one fan that, “I’m signing a one-year contract with the Saints. We’re going to surprise Drew (Brees).”

Favre, 49, famously resisted a couple of chances to retire from playing football professionally between stints with the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings after an iconic career with the Green Bay Packers. Brees, 40, probably shares some of Favre’s sentiment as he reaches the end of his own storied career.

Brees should expect to join Favre in the Pro Football Hall of Fame someday. Just, don’t count on the two of them playing together in the NFL any time soon.
