Brentford vs Wolves: Premier League match halted due to drone flying above stadium

Brentford and Wolves had their Premier League match halted after half an hour due to an unofficial drone flying above the stadium.

Both sets of players and the officials headed back into the tunnel as play was stopped in bizarre scenes at the Brentford Community Stadium.

After a delay of nearly 20 minutes, the players returned to the pitch and after a short warm-up, the match resumed.

It was not the only lengthy stoppage in a heavily disrupted first-half.

Brentford teammates Mathias Jensen and Rico Henry both required treatment after a sickening clash of heads, with the duo both being replaced as Thomas Frank used two concussion substitutions.

It’s a big match for Brentford, who have losing their last three league games have slipped down to 14th in the Premier League table. One of those defeats came at home to Man United, but their manager was certainly not disappointed with the performance from his side.

“We are the smallest club in the Premier League, Manchester United the biggest,” Frank said after the match.

“We destroyed them in the first half, they didn’t have a sniff. They are unbelievably lucky. I know all the stuff about taking chances. They changed the system against little Brentford.”
