A major fire has broken out at a hotel in west London, triggering the evacuation of 160 guests and staff from the building.
Over 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines from several stations were dispatched to the Travelodge on High Street, Brentford, just before 3am.
According to the London Fire Brigade, the fire began from a bin room on the ground floor and spread to five floors.
Station Commander Nathan Hobson said: “Firefighters carried out a systematic search of the hotel and fought the fire internally, which helped stop it spreading further.
“Around 160 guests and staff evacuated the building. There were no reports of any injuries. A rest centre has been set up by the local authority. Crews are working hard in challenging conditions to bring the fire under control.”
Authorities are advising the public to avoid the area if possible, as crews are still working to damp down the fire and carry out salvage work.
It is not immediately clear what caused the fire.
Several guests tweeted about the incident, saying they were woken up around 2am by the fire alarm.
One witness said that a “member of the public ran up and down every corridor on each floor telling us to leave”.
