Brentford join race for £11m striker linked with Bristol City and Derby County

Barry Fry says Brentford are interested in Ivan Toney.

The striker has been in sensational form for League One Peterborough United this season, netting 17 goals in 31 appearances.

It has led to plenty of higher-league interest, with Bristol City linked to the 23-year-old along with Derby County and Premier League sides Burnley and Bournemouth.

Yet the Posh have slapped an £11m price tag on Toney in an effort to dissuade clubs from targeting him in January, with the side currently battling for promotion in League One.

Speaking to Peterborough Today, Fry confirmed Brentford's, along with other Championship clubs', interest, but ruled out selling Toney in this window.

“Brentford, like many other Championship club, have shown an interest in Ivan,” Fry said.

“But they won’t bid enough and in any case Ivan is not for sale. We need him to have any chance of promotion.”
