Brentford injury update issued ahead of Aston Villa trip including Ethan Pinnock latest

Ethan Pinnock has been passed fit to face Aston Villa at the weekend despite limping out of Tuesday night's win over Forest Green Rovers.

Pinnock was one of only two survivors from the side that drew at Crystal Palace on Saturday as he captained the Bees against his former club.

However, the towering centre back was forced off in the dying minutes as Brentford finished the game with 10 men.

The home side had already lost Mads Bech Sorensen in first-half stoppage-time with a knee problem as summer signing Kristoffer Ajer was called into action off the bench.

Frank said: "Ethan is fine. He had contact to the same ankle as last Saturday against Crystal Palace, so he will play against Villa.

"Mads Bech we need to assess in the morning and see how serious it is."

Shandon Baptiste and Mathias Jensen are yet to kick a ball this term but Frank is hopeful the pair will be in contention soon.

He added: "They trained today [Tuesday] with a minor group and looked sharp, so they are getting closer."

Charlie Goode also missed the win over Forest Green through injury.

Brentford avoided an upset at the Community Stadium as goals from Yoane Wissa, substitute Bryan Mbeumo and Marcus Forss earned them victory against the League Two leaders.

However, they were forced to come from behind as Jack Aitchison handed the high-flying visitors a deserved lead at the break.

Rovers finished with 10 men after Ebrima Adams was sent off for a rash challenge on Vitaly Janelt.

"In the first half Forest Green deserved a lot of credit, I think they were the better side. They were brave, energetic and played through us," admitted Frank.

"We had a massive chance and then made a mistake and were 1-0 down. We did not have enough quality on the ball.

"At half-time I said to calm down. In the second half we changed the system and that helped, and in the end I think we got a well deserved win.

"Of course, it's clear some of the guys have been more regular starters and have a bit more quality in these situations - so that definitely helped.

"Maybe I changed too many players, plus I changed the system. Maybe that didn't help us. I'll analyse that a little more."
