Brentford fans top matchday snack chart as each follower has 24 pies a season

Fans of Premier League new boys Brentford have their eyes on the pies.

Because their supporters are likely to scoff more matchday snacks than their 19 top-flight rivals.

Each follower of the West London side, nicknamed the Bees, has 24 a season on average, nine more than Chelsea fans, who eat the fewest.

Lifelong Bees fan Graham Lewis, 55, said: “My favourite is the meat pie.

“I have one before kick-off with a pint and another at half time.

“I’d have another one after the match but they’ve closed by then.”

Pie sales are a £39million slice of income for Prem clubs, with Chelsea fans paying the most per snack, £4.50, and Liverpool the least, £2.90.

Behind Brentford, whose fans include Phil Collins and ex-EastEnders star Dean Gaffney, are Leeds fans who have 22 pies.

At Norwich and Wolves each supporter will tuck into 21.

On 19 are fans at Newcastle, Brighton and Crystal Palace. Man Utd, Arsenal, West Ham, Spurs, Man City, Everton and Watford fans are all on 18.

And at Leicester and Liverpool it’s 17.

GamblingDeals.com, which polled fans, said: “Next time we hear fans sing ‘who ate all the pies?’ we know the answer.”

The football chant was reportedly inspired by Victorian goalie William ‘Fatty’ Foulke, who played for Chelsea and weighed in at 22st 3lb.
