Brentford supporters planning to attend next week's pre-season friendly against Manchester United at Old Trafford will pay the same price as home fans despite initial communication suggesting that they would need to fork out an additional £10.
Thomas Frank's side will face United on Wednesday July 28 with an 8pm kick off and the West London club have received an allocation of 1,486 tickets for the game. Details sent to Brentford supporters earlier today said that they would be priced at £30 for adults and £10 for under-16s, but United's website had seats on general sale for £20 and under-16s free.
It is understood that United were initially planning to charge all adult supporters £30 but, upon confirmation that coronavirus restrictions would be relaxed and attendance caps would be removed, a decision was taken to reduce the prices.
That decision had not filtered through until after the West London club announced the original details, leading to a number of supporters complaining about the disparity.
"Tickets for Brentford’s pre-season friendly against Manchester United will cost less than originally advertised," a Bretnford statement said. "Ticket pricing information released earlier today was incorrect and will cost £20 for adults. There will be concession prices for those 65 and over and under 18 with children able to attend for free."
Those who paid £30 before wires were uncrossed will be refunded.
The West London club will also face West Ham United on July 31 and Valencia on August 7 in warm-up games at their new stadium. Ticket details for those fixtures are set to be announced later this week.
Brentford begin their first Premier League season with a home game against Arsenal on Friday August 13. They were last in the top flight of English football in 1947 and will be the 50th club to reach the Premier League.
Brentford, who are expected to complete a club record move for Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer soon, defeated neighbours AFC Wimbledon 1-0 in their first friendly on Saturday afternoon.
They take on National League club Boreham Wood at Meadow Park tomorrow evening.
