Brentford come from behind to reach Carabao Cup third round as QPR, Fulham and Millwall go through

Brentford came from a goal down to beat Forest Green and reached the third round of the Carabao Cup, while Fulham, QPR and Millwall also went through on an excellent night for London’s clubs.

A much-changed Bees side went behind to Jack Aitchison’s eighth minute goal for the high-flying League Two side, but a number of changes from Thomas Frank after the break swung the tie back in favour of the top-flight outfit.

Summer signing Yoane Wissa equalised with his first goal for the club before Bryan Mbeumo put the home side in front and Marcus Forss sealed the result four minutes from half time after Forest Green had had Ebou Adams sent off.

Fulham have been in flying form in the Championship and carried that on with a 2-0 win away to Birmingham, Jay Stansfield opening the scoring midway through the first half before Anthonee Robinson’s stoppage time effort confirmed the Cottagers’ places in tomorrow’s third round draw.

QPR have also made an unbeaten start to their league campaign and disposed of Oxford United thanks to a 2-0 win, with in-form defender Rob Dickie on target again with a screamer.

Millwall, meanwhile, were a goal down to Cambridge United before a Murray Wallace double and Matt Smith’s second half strike earned a comfortable win.

There were few shocks on the night, with the all-Premier League tie between Crystal Palace and Watford producing the only top flight casualty as the Hornets triumphed 1-0.

Aston Villa and Norwich waltzed into the next round with thumping 6-0 wins over Barrow and Bournemouth, respectively, while Everton survived a scare to beat Huddersfield 2-1 despite having Moise Kean sent off.
