Brentford close in on £3.5m deal for Celta Vigo midfielder Mathias Jensen

Brentford are looking to continue their summer spending by wrapping up a deal for Celta Vigo midfielder Mathias Jensen.

The Bees have been active in the market so far, with Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson their latest acquisition earlier this week for a deal which could eventually cost £5.5million.

The club have also bought in goalkeeper David Raya from Blackburn Rovers and Barnsley defender Ethan Pinnock as they look to push for promotion this season.

And Standard Sport understands Brentford are hoping to continue their spending by bringing in Jensen from Celta Vigo.

The 23-year-old only moved to the Spanish side last summer but he has struggled to win a space in the first team, making just six appearances last season.

Brentford are now ready to offer Jensen a way out and they are understood to be in advanced talks over a deal worth around £3.5m.

Despite his difficult season in Spain, Jensen is highly rated and he has impressed for Denmark’s Under-21s in the past.

He would become the latest Danish midfielder to head to Griffin Park this summer as Christian Norgaard joined earlier this summer from Fiorentina.
