Brentford boss delivers Pontus Jansson fitness boost for Leeds United clash

Brentford manager Thomas Frank that his captain Pontus Jansson is making good progress and could be back in time to face his former club Leeds United on Tuesday evening.

The Sweden international centre-half has been out of action with a hip problem for the past month, but in Frank's pre-match press conference, he revealed that Jansson is back training on the grass and is touch-and-go for the visit of his old team-mates.

Jansson hasn't featured since the 3-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers on January 11th, but he'll be racing back to make a difference in the key match in the race for promotion. Brentford are two points behind Leeds and would leapfrog them with a win in midweek. The Whites have a famously poor record at Griffin Park, failing to win there since 1950.

"Everyone is fit and available," said Frank.

"The only one is Pontus Jansson who we will take a call on in the morning. He was out on the grass today which is positive."

The Bees skipper recently gave a new interview ahead of the crunch match, in which he revealed he still has fond feelings for Leeds but hopes they "lose every game" now that they're challenging Brentford for promotion.

Meanwhile, Leeds will be without Tyler Roberts and Adam Forshaw for the trip to West London, but are otherwise full-strength, and will be boosted by the return of Kalvin Phillips, eligible once again after serving a three-match suspension.
