Brentford secured a 1-0 victory over Premier League champions Manchester City in their final game of the season. Ethan Pinnock scored the decisive goal in the 85th minute, set up by Bryan Mbeumo, to give Brentford a well-deserved win.
However, despite their triumph, Brentford finished ninth in the league and missed out on a Europa Conference League qualification spot.
Pinnock's close-range strike proved to be the breakthrough that Brentford had been seeking against a Manchester City side that featured several changes and lacked their usual intensity.
City's star striker Erling Haaland remained on the bench, and Kevin De Bruyne was left out of the squad. As a result, City struggled to create clear-cut chances for most of the match.
In stoppage time, City had an opportunity to salvage a draw, but Brentford's Pinnock blocked two efforts from Cole Palmer, while another attempt was cleared off the line by Ben Mee.
With this victory, Brentford became the only team to defeat the Premier League champions both home and away during the season.
