Brentford appalled as Ivan Toney again receives racist abuse on Instagram

Brentford have been left appalled after striker Ivan Toney was again subjected to racist abuse on Instagram last night following his side’s 0-0 draw with Birmingham.

Toney posted a screenshot of the abuse on his Instagram account and wrote alongside it: “Honestly I’m done”.

The abuse Toney highlighted showed how he had been sent a message that included a string of monkey emojis, as well as abusive words.

Brentford have condemned the abuse received by Toney, describing it as spineless, and have given their full support to him.

“We are appalled to see yet more spineless, racist abuse directed at Ivan Toney on Instagram this evening,” Brentford said in a statement.

“This has to stop. Now. We stand with Ivan, and all those who continue to suffer abuse online.”

This is the second time this season Toney has received racist abuse online, with the 25-year-old also targeted in January.
