Brennan Johnson stars again as he hunts Nottingham Forest first-team place

Nottingham Forest's highly-rated young midfielder Brennan Johnson gave boss Sabri Lamouchi a timely reminder of his talent after starring in the under-23s win over Barnsley today.

The Reds are hoping to defender their Professional Development title and they got off to the perfect start by overcoming the Tykes at the Nigel Doughty Academy.

Brennan Johnson and striker Will Swan secured the 2-1 victory which saw Jake Taylor and Jayden Richardson both involved for Chris Cohen's team.

Johnson was on the bench for the first-team's visit to QPR at the weekend and was recently called up the Wales squad for the first time by manager Ryan Giggs.

And his performance against Barnsley underlined why Forest have high hopes for Johnson who produced another display of high quality.

The 19-year-old will now hope he can force his way into the first-team plans of Lamouchi whose side have lost both of their opening games of the season.

And after playing as a striker for the under-23s, it demonstrated his versatility once again.

Johnson is just another product of Forest's brilliant academy which has gone on to produce a string of stars in recent times with Aston Villa's Matty Cash  and Ryan Yates  going on to be first team regulars.
