Brendan Rodgers warned he won't be able to stop Liverpool signing Youri Tielemans

Liverpool have been told that reported target Youri Tielemans would not turn down a move to Anfield should an offer be made.

The Reds are being linked with the Leicester City midfielder, who has been touted as a possible replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.

A host of players are being linked as potential options to fill the void of the Dutchman, along with Udinese’s Rodrigo De Paul, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus and Brighton’s Yves Bissouma, to name just a few.

While the rumours linking Tielemans with a possible move to Liverpool are tentative, one former Premier League striker believes he could end up on Merseyside this summer.

Ex-Sunderland and Crystal Palace striker Kevin Phillips says that should Liverpool show a genuine interest in Tielemans, former Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers would find it impossible to stop a deal from happening.

“I think everyone is available for the right price,” Phillips told Football Insider .

“I don’t think Brendan Rodgers would want Tielemans to go but I think when Liverpool come knocking at your door and speak to your agent, then the player is going to listen and is probably going to want to go.

“Especially now that Leicester won’t be getting Champions League football next year after just missing out while Liverpool have, that’s a big, big draw for any player.

“So if Liverpool were to make enquiries and make an offer then it could be one of those where it’s hard to stop the player going and turn the deal down, so it will be an interesting one.”
