Brendan Rodgers wants his Leicester players to feel like Celtic stars

Brendan Rodgers wants his Leicester players to be under the same pressure as Celtic stars.

The Foxes boss spent two intense years at the Scottish champions and prior to that he was manager of Liverpool .

So he knows all about the pressure to win every game. Now Rodgers wants his Leicester squad to feel a similar burden after telling them of his intention to make them a Premier League top-six club.

With the King Power outfit currently ninth in the English top flight, Rodgers said: "Everyone sees pressure as a negative. When you’re at that level it’s a positive pressure.

"I think what you do is work it so it's a positive. You know when I was at Liverpool or Celtic that there are players when they play against you they go at it that extra 10-15 per cent so every game is a cup final feeling.

Rodgers experienced major pressure at Celtic but delivered the double Treble (PA)

"That's what you want and that's what it's like every game which is absolutely fantastic.

"That's when you put your work in during the week. What you learn with experience is you learn to regulate the pressure.

"You have to have the filter in there that regulates it, so that it doesn't swamp you because it could do, but when you have a passion for your work and you love it as well you're better off inside knowing how you feel, than outside feeling comfortable.

"You'd rather be in there, trying to be better and trying to improve knowing that at times there is absolutely no question that you are going to fail and you accept that.

"When you are a coach you invest yourself into a way of working, that’s your life. That’s your model, that’s your intensity, that’s how you practise."
