Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that his focus remains firmly on the Parkhead club’s own ambitions, regardless of any potential investment at Rangers, as his side prepare to secure their 13th Scottish Premiership title in 14 seasons.
Celtic travel to Tannadice this Saturday knowing that simply avoiding defeat against Dundee United will be enough to seal yet another league crown.
Meanwhile, all eyes are on the summer, with city rivals Rangers reportedly set for a major cash injection from US investors linked to the San Francisco 49ers.
Asked whether a stronger Rangers, fuelled by fresh investment, would provide extra motivation, Rodgers was unequivocal.
“Listen, competition is always what drives you as an individual and as a team,” Rodgers told the press ahead of the potentially decisive fixture. “Of course, you have your own motivations from within but every single team in this league motivates me to win.”

The Celtic boss was quick to praise the standard of coaching across the Scottish top flight, making it clear that his competitive fire is stoked by every opponent, not just the club’s fiercest rivals.
“We have got some great coaches up here, some fantastic managers, who are very passionate about their job, so any team provides the motivation and the drive for me to succeed here,” Rodgers added.
On the subject of Rangers’ prospective new owners and increased spending power, Rodgers was diplomatic but resolute in his priorities.
The Northern Irishman commented: “If there's investment going into Rangers then great, that will be good for their supporters, good for the club, but my focus is very much on Celtic.”
