Spurs legend Sheringham tips Rodgers

Former Tottenham striker Teddy Sheringham has named Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers as the ideal replacement for Jose Mourinho at Spurs this summer.

RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann was the early favourite for the managerial hot seat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, the German has opted to stay in the Bundesliga and take over at Bayern Munich instead of testing himself in the Premier League.

Sheringham has called on his former club to go all out for the ex-Liverpool boss, who he has compared his playing style to Man City's Pep Guardiola, as they look to find their perfect man.

“If I had the pick of the bunch and Tottenham were ready to go out and spend big money, which I presume they will, then I would go and break the bank for Brendan Rodgers,” Sheringham said.

The Trust held a vote on Friday evening that polled members about their feelings towards the board with 90% of the respondents calling for the Spurs hierarchy to hand in their resignations.

The Trust said in a statement: "Change is coming and collectively we can positively influence that change.

This is currently scheduled for May 15 and will provide the fans with a way of venting their frustrations and an opportunity to "make our feelings clear" about the club's involvement in the Super League plans.
