Brendan Rodgers tipped for top job amid Unai Emery and Ole Gunner Solskjaer speculation

Brendan Rodgers could one day take over at Arsenal and Manchester United after a strong start to life at Leicester City.

That's according to former Liverpool star Danny Murphy.

Rodgers previously impressed with Liverpool in the Premier League before he was eventually replaced by Jurgen Klopp, with the former going on to earn success aplenty in Scotland at Celtic.

After swapping Celtic for the Foxes, Rodgers guided Leicester to a ninth-placed finish, with his side now knocking on the door of Champions League qualification as they sit third in the league following seven games.

Murphy was quick to praise Rodgers in an appearance on talkSPORT on Monday after the latter's 5-0 win over Newcastle United on Sunday, with the former Liverpool midfielder comparing Rodgers' situation to that of Unai Emery at Arsenal and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at United.

"It's been an astute bit of business from Leicester to get Brendan Rodgers," Murphy told talkSPORT.

"Looking ahead to Manchester United's game against Arsenal with those two clubs in a bit of trouble, would it be that unthinkable that Brendan could manage one of those two teams in the future?

"I know he is very settled at Leicester but I think he goes under the radar a little bit.

"I like Ole (Gunnar Solskjaer) and sticking with him now is the right choice. When Wenger went, I thought Brendan would be good for Arsenal.

"They are all over the place.

"He'll be capable one day of managing one of the big clubs.

"But I don't want to annoy Leicester fans because they have a really exciting season ahead."
