Brendan Rodgers sends warning to Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs over Leicester's long-term ambition

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has said that he is excited about the challenge of building sustained success at the club, as they look to break into the Premier League top six.

The Foxes currently sit in third place in the table, and have made no secrets of their ambition to play European football next season.

Having experienced Champions League football in 2016/17, the club are keen to be a regular fixture in the competition in years to come.

The top six positions in the Premier League, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs have been relatively easy to predict in recent years, with Leicester causing a surprise in 2016 by finishing in first position.

However, Rodgers is keen for the Foxes' appearances in the upper echelons of the league to become a regular thing, despite a difference in financial power.

“It’s sometimes been the trend, if something happens that wakes them up, they have the facility to spend and get the level of player who can get them back up there,” Rodgers said, as reported by LeicestershireLive .

“You have to fight, you can’t accept that that is the top six in terms of money and finance and you’re always going to sit below it.

“We have to hopefully find a way, drop a hand grenade in there and see where it takes us.

“We have to do it in a different way. We have resources, of course, but we don’t have the resources to get in the players that will go to these other clubs.

“That’s the excitement of it, that’s the beauty, that’s the challenge and it was the project I was really excited about when I came here. Can we break that mould? Can we not just create something but sustain it? That’s what we’re looking to do.”

Leicester are currently building a new multi million pound training ground and there is talks over extending the King Power Stadium to seat more supporters. “There’s a fantastic infrastructure here,” Rodgers said on the things behind the scenes.

The Leicester boss has also set a target for the Foxes.

“Those clubs have big histories in the game. For us, it’s about creating a new history," he said. "That’s the challenge and it’s one we’re all excited about.”
