Brendan Rodgers responds to video of Leicester stars partying after FA Cup exit

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers admits he has spoken to a trio of stars over a social media video published after their FA Cup exit.

Rodgers apologised to Leicester fans for the “awful” 4-1 loss the Premier League side sustained on Sunday at Nottingham Forest, which left him questioning his the hunger of his players.

The thrashing by their Championship neighbours left Rodgers “embarrassed” as the FA Cup holders crashed out.

A video then emerged on social media on Monday morning at 5am of keeper Danny Ward, midfielder Hamza Choudhury and defender James Justin partying.

Ward and Justin both played in the defeat at the City Ground while Choudhury was an unused sub.

The Instagram video, which has since circulated on Twitter, has been deleted.

But Foxes boss Rodgers spoke to the trio this week , who assured him it was not published live and was from a previous party.

Rodgers explained: “I wasn’t aware of it myself until Tuesday.

“But I have spoken to the guys. I don’t think it was the most sensible thing to do anyway, no matter when it was, to put something out.

“But I have been assured when I have spoken to the guys that it definitely wasn’t at the weekend.

“It was something that had happened a number of weeks back on a Saturday evening when we had no game and the players were off on the Sunday.

“They have been categorical with that. I trust that it is the truth that was said.

“I certainly don't think it was the most sensible thing to do, especially on the back of a really disappointing result.

“It's in our modern lives now and it's a constant education to players and young guys - why you would have to post and the timings of it.

“You get numbers of examples of these type of situations coming up so yes, you definitely speak on it for sure and give them a reminder.”

Rodgers’ Leicester side return to action on Thursday night at Liverpool after three games without a win.

Rodgers side, who have finished fifth the last two seasons, have won just three times in 11 Premier League games to be mid-table.

Rodgers assessed: “When you lose you are always open to criticism.

“You are always under pressure if you are not getting results. We have had a great run here for a period of time.

“But the results, especially the one at the weekend, will always put you under pressure as a manager.

“I get that and I understand that. But it is not something I shy away from. We will fight and it is something we will look to show in the next game.”

Leicester's last win was at home over Liverpool on December 28.

Rodgers said: "What we took from that night was the spirit of the game. We were playing against a top team with top players.

"You have to defend for your life and run and work and need a little bit of luck and have quality when opportunities come to take them. It will be no different."
