Brendan Rodgers responds to Liverpool win at West Brom with warning to Chelsea

Brendan Rodgers insists Liverpool's last-gasp victory at West Brom has "no ramifications" for Leicester - as his side are as determined as ever to beat Chelsea on Tuesday.

The three clubs are locked in a fierce battle for the remaining two spots in the Premier League top four.

In a rematch of Saturday's FA Cup final - which Leicester won 1-0 - the Foxes travel to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday in a vital clash for the Champions League spots.

Liverpool upped the stakes of the encounter by winning their game in hand on Sunday as goalkeeper Alisson netted a spectacular 95th-minute header.

But Rodgers had little to say about his old side's comeback victory and simply sent a warning of Leicester's resolve to Chelsea.

"There’s no ramifications for us," said the Foxes boss of the Reds' dramatic win at the Hawtorns. "We have to control what we do and we have it in our hands.

"We’ve got European football but we have two games to arrive in the top four. We can only control what we have ourselves.

Will Leicester qualify for the Champions League? Have your say in the comments.

"Big Sam will be disappointed because they defended well. We have a great opportunity to qualify and we intend to take it."

Although his side got the better of Chelsea at Wembley, Rodgers is not underestimating their quality and pointed out Thomas Tuchel's side have a Champions League final with Manchester City to look forward to.

He added: "When you are a club that wants to win, you know sometimes you will fall short.

"They are in the Champions League final for a reason. They’ve got an excellent squad.

"We have to work hard and be equally aggressive and see if we can make our chances count."

Leicester host Tottenham on the final day, while Chelsea travel to Aston Villa.
