Brendan Rodgers is adamant that Manchester United target James Maddison will stay at Leicester beyond the end of the January transfer window and refused to enter into conversation about a potential deal involving Jesse Lingard.
United are long-term admirers of the Foxes midfielder and, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to bolster his squad during the current window, Maddison continues to be linked with a move.
One report over the weekend claimed United hope to involve Lingard in a potential player-plus-cash deal but Rodgers has again poured cold water on the speculation.
"You're all talking about speculation, I don't talk about speculation and gossip. James is a wonderful player and he will be here in January and beyond," Rodgers said ahead of Leicester's semi-final clash against Aston Villa in the League Cup.
The Leicester manager was asked what the message was for United as they look into the possibility of signing the 23-year-old.
"There's no message. It's a month and pre-January there's lots of speculation around our players which is great because they're talents and that means they and the team are doing very very well," Rodgers said. "Nobody will leave here in January that's for sure. We want to add to the squad if we can.
"It's been a fantastic first part of the season for us and we want to continue with that rhythm and continuity with the players and develop them and the team and see where we end up at the end of the season. There's no pressure for us to sell and there's no need for us sell."
