Brendan Rodgers remains 'keen' on Odsonne Edouard as former Celtic boss puts his transfer plan into action

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is reportedly willing to sell striker Kelechi Iheanacho to help boost his Leicester City transfer kitty.

The Mail on Sunday state the Nigerian could be moved on with Leeds United noted as a potential destination for the ex-Manchester City graduate.

And the report also notes Rodgers remains keen on his former Celtic talisman Odsonne Edouard as a potential replacement.

Record Sport revealed in January that the Irishman was eyeing a £30m move for the France U21 star as he looked to bolster to his high-flying Leicester side.

But much has changed over the past six months at the King Power Stadium as the Foxes missed out on Champions League football and are recalibrating as the COVID-19 pandemic wreaks havoc across the globe.

But Rodgers is set for a transfer battle to land the 23-year-old with a clutch of clubs across the continent eyeing the free-scoring Celtic hero.

The Leicester manager's renewed interest comes after Hoops boss Neil Lennon insisted his side won't be caught short if his main man leaves.

He said: “Whether it’s Odsonne or any other player – like in previous years when we sold guys like Dembele and Tierney – we’ll be prepared for it.

“There may be intense speculation around some of our players so we have to plan ahead.

“That’s what we do, it’s like a circular motion.

“We have to keep the wheels moving and be prepared for any eventuality when the market opens.

“It’s going to be a long transfer window until October. There will be pros and cons.

“You just don’t know, a club could come in and show real interest in one of your players.

“Then you have to play a waiting game to see if they’re going to bid or if it’s just unsettling for the player involved.

“I don’t know how it will pan out but we’ll have to adapt.”
