Brendan Rodgers praises Daizen Maeda as he makes 'worth two players' claim

Brendan Rodgers praised Daizen Maeda after Celtic's victory over Livingston, saying he "has the work rate of two players".

The Japan international scored the third and final goal the Scottish champions ran out comfortable winners in the end at Almondvale.

And the 50-year-old waxed lyrical about the forward. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "When you have Daizen Maeda in your team, you don't really have ten men.

"He puts in the work rate of two players - unbelievable mentality."

Rodgers also explained an incident at the end of the game in which a young fan ran on the pitch and the Hoops boss made sure security did not remove him from the field.

"Listen, it was a great day for Celtic. You come here as a player and to have that much support, it was absolutely amazing," he continued.

"Especially when you have a midweek game to get that energy. The wee guy at the end, it's just common sense, it's a young kid.

"He is on the pitch to see his heroes and wants to see the players. He shouldn’t be punished or presecuted for that, especially when the security guy is not that much older than him!

"He just wants to see his heroes, so just common sense by letting him get back to his mates.
