Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers believes new signing Benjamin Nygren will be a "versatile and mature" asset to the team.
The 23-year-old Swedish international has moved to Glasgow from FC Nordsjaelland on a five-year contract, with a transfer fee of approximately £1.5 million.
Nygren's career began with a move to Genk as a teenager, but it failed to launch, and he has now found his form in Denmark.
Rodgers said: "I mentioned previously we always want to improve our attacking output in the team.
"Benjamin's a guy who has really grown and developed from being a really talented young player.
"He made a move early in his career, it didn’t quite work out, but has come back and obviously at Nordsjaelland has been doing really, really well."
Rodgers also revealed he sought advice from Michael Essien, the former Chelsea and Ghana midfielder, who is on the coaching staff at Nordsjaelland.
"I was in contact with a friend of mine there who was a top midfield player, Michael Essien," he said.
"Michael works there and he spoke really, really highly of Benjamin."
Essien's praise gave Rodgers added confidence in his new signing.
However, it is Nygren's own qualities that Rodgers believes will enhance the attacking prowess of the Scottish champions in the coming season.
He said: "I know, having spoken to him and seen him play, he’s a leader on the pitch and he produces in terms of the goals he scores, what he creates."
