Brendan Rodgers makes transfer claim as he provides update after Celtic and Rangers signing links

Determined Brendan Rodgers has told Leicester supporters that work is continuing in search for new recruits.

The Foxes are back in action this week as they aim to seal their place in next season's Champions League.

Despite the current Premier League season still to be completed, transfers remain key across the globe for clubs aiming to bolster their squad.

Rodgers' side have been strongly linked with a host of players - including a trio he knows very well from his time with Celtic.

Record Sport exclusively revealed in January that the Irishman was plotting a bid for Hoops talisman Odsonne Edouard this summer before the COVID-19 pandemic.

It's also understood former Hoops left-back Kieran Tierney would be considered to replace Ben Chilwell if the £75m-rated England international joins Chelsea this summer.

A report in Colombia this morning claimed Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos is now a target but Record Sport previously checked that one out and were told that wasn't the case.

And now the 47-year-old has told Leicester supporters that talks remain ongoing on how to best improve their squad.

Speaking to the Leicester City Football Forum, he said: “It’s been very, very quiet, to be honest. And of course, we’re aware of what we need in order to continue to improve.

“But it’s felt difficult. I’ve got to be honest to talk too much on it because we’re still finding out where everything is going to be.

"There’s obviously a lot of speculation going around. So there are rumours and gossip about players and everything, which is pretty right for the moment.

“But in terms of inquiries, we have been very, very quiet. And in relation to improve the squad – of course, we’ve had lots of conversations.

"And that will really start to probably ramp up a little bit more once we get back into football and people understand where the climate is.”
