Brendan Rodgers makes Thomas Tuchel prediction as Graham Potter announced new Chelsea head coach

Under pressure, Brendan Rodgers has made a bold Thomas Tuchel prediction as the sacked Chelsea boss has been pictured for the first time since Todd Boehly wielded the axe in favour of newly appointed Graham Potter.

The Blues acted fast in the managerial search process after Tuchel was dismissed from his role, hours after his side put in a lacklustre display on the continent in the Champions League against Dinamo Zagreb.

However, football.london understands that this result went very little towards the decision-making of the new Chelsea board, who have had their minds set on this decision as far back as pre-season. It was a matter of when rather than if. They decided a few days before Fulham was the right time for a change.

The decision has not only gone down in a mixed way with the Chelsea fan base but many managers have been confused and sorry to see their colleague sent packing this early into the 2022/23 season. Jürgen Klopp, Mikel Arteta, Eddie Howe, Erik ten Hag, Antonio Conte, and others outside the league, including Bolton's Ian Evatt, have given their opinion on the situation at hand with Graham Potter taking over. Still, it is now Rodgers' turn to say what he feels amid tentative links to the vacant Blues and Brighton roles.

"I think in terms of Thomas [Tuchel], he has had a really successful 18 months there, and only eight or nine months ago, they were the world's best team.

"But football moves and the world moves quickly, and I'm obviously not privy to what goes on behind the scenes, but it's obviously disappointing to lose any manager in any job at any level. But, he'll go away and get a very good job."

Rodgers himself is under immense pressure to survive at Leicester after the Foxes sit rock bottom of the league with a solitary point after six games. A loss at home to Aston Villa, another club whose manager Steven Gerrard is facing the threat of being kicked out, could be the final straw. Whether or not this could be seen as a blessing in disguise to Rodgers remains a mystery, with the Seagulls highly keen to potentially look into bringing in the Scotsman to replace Potter.

What happens there remains unknown. But whether or not he faces a similar fate to Tuchel could be found out after game week 7. Tuchel himself has been spotted going on a stroll near where he lives in Surrey, as per The Sun, with the gloomy weather summing up his mood and misfortunes in recent times.

Will Rodgers be doing that same walk anytime soon? We shall soon see.
