Brendan Rodgers makes Liverpool admission after watching Leicester's 'learning curve'

Brendan Rodgers admits Liverpool will be “very, very hard to stop” after watching his Leicester City side torn apart by his former club.

The Reds romped to a 4-0 at the second-placed Foxes on Boxing Day to open up a 13-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Leicester had gone into the game having lost 3-1 to fellow title challengers Manchester City at the weekend.

And asked for his opinion on the championship battle, Rodgers said: “Liverpool are going to be very, very hard to stop, no doubt.

“They are a fantastic team, their confidence is high and they have become winners now.

“They haven't lost many games over 18 months. To lose the games they'd need to, they have enough experience and quality to stay focused and get the job done.

“There's still a lot to play for but in the last two games we've come up against the best two teams in the league.

“The last two games have been great benchmarks for us. We have been catapulted into this race for the title, but you've seen the quality of the opposition... Liverpool were absolutely terrific. We could be better.”

Rodgers, meanwhile, had no issue with after referee Michael Oliver adjudged Caglar Soyuncu to have handled Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner.

“At 1-0 we were still in the game, and the handball was a turning point,” said Rodgers.

“Caglar, it clearly hits his arm and it's a penalty. That was disappointing for us as we were starting to have a bit more pressure in Liverpool's half.

“Then their quality and speed got through us. My young players have been fantastic up to this point. Great learning games for us.”
